Aditya Suhas Jambhale Expands His Kashmir Universe with Supernatural Thriller Baramulla

The supernatural thriller film Baramulla is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale. The star cast includes Manav Kaul and Bhasha Sumbli in the lead roles. The movie was released on November 7, 2025. It is produced by Aditya and Lokesh Dhar.

Aditya has referred to the movie as their Kashmir Universe. The first article 370 in 2024, also directed by Jambhale, was a suspenseful fictionalised version of events which led to the abolition of autonomous status for Jammu and Kashmir. The film is powered by a tight screenplay and a fine performance by Yami Gautam Dhar stood firmly on the side of the political establishment. The storytelling made no room for dissent.

Baramulla, a supernatural thriller, is less propulsive but more layered. Jambal and Aditya have written a film that merges the anguish and tragedies of the dead and the living in a land haunted by decades of religious violence and bloodshed.

The story begins in Baramulla in December 2016, which places it just a few months after the horrific attacks on Indian army camps in Baramulla and Uri, which was the title and topic of Aditya’s blockbuster 2019 film. In the movie, the young son of a former MLA disappears into silence, and a controversial cop, Ridwan Syed, is transferred to town to investigate the case. Manav Kaul plays Ridwan. His family moves into a creepy house, and the spine-chilling happenings are pushed aside because Ridwan must figure out what is happening to these children, all of whom are students of the same school.

Overall, the family dynamics shown in Baramulla are interesting. The fractured emotions inside the house mirror the fractured reality outside. As the mystery of what is happening unfolds, the film gathers emotional power.
