Ranveer Singh: Life Story, Education, Career Struggles, Blockbuster Films and Success

Ranveer Singh feels that being an outside it was difficult to get a foot in the Hindi film industry. He said it was important to have a familial connection, or son of a producer or a director, or a star kid, to be a leading man. He pursued becoming a copywriter. He went to America to study advertising. In the second year, he took an acting course, and on the first day, the instructor said, “I don’t want to know who you are, where you are from, I just want you to get up in front of the class and perform.” He went up and started reciting a famous monologue, and it was in Hindi. Nobody in that class understood Hindi, but he said it with a great deal of passion, so everybody was taken aback. He saw that he could perform and evoke an emotional reaction out of a viewing audience; it was beautiful. He sat back in his seat and asked himself why he was not doing this. He called his father and said that he wanted to do acting. His father told him to complete his education first. So Ranveer completed his education.

Initially, Ranveer Singh thought of taking a job that could help him get closer to films. He was captivated by the aura of the actor on sets, the way an actor gets ready and performs so that everyone loves it. Ranveer tried to join a theatre group. No theatre group wanted him. He made himself useful by pulling chairs for people and bringing the actors tea, turning the lights off till the time he came, indispensable to that theatre group. He used to put the set up, break the setup down, and load the trunks into the truck. Then he was told about the film being shot next door. His father’s friend had a printing press, and he went there to take pictures and make them. He used to call filmmakers; he used to go from office to office waiting for the filmmakers all day. He said he used give them his portfolio, expecting a call back. He exclaimed that he faced a lot of rejection and humiliation. It was his self-belief that was driving him in that difficult period.

One day, Ranveer Singh got a call for an audition as they were looking for a new face. He went to the gurudwara on the way; he went there before the audition. His audition went well. He was on his knees, and he started bawling. He went to his best friend’s house, and he showed her the script in his hand. His movie was released on Friday, and he became famous by Monday. The next thing he remembers is receiving an award from a mega star.

Ranveer is India’s most energetic and fun-loving actor. He is known for his acting skills, lively personality, heart-warming attitude, and his unique fashion sense. He was born on July 6, 1985 in a Sindhi family. His father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, is a successful businessman. His mother Anju Bhavnani, is a deep-rooted lady. Ranveer has an elder sister named Ritika Bhavnani who shares a special bond with him. As a kid, Ranveer always used to perform in school dramas and functions.

Ranveer got a degree in Theatre and Arts from Indiana University, America. He received deep training in acting, script reading, and performance arts.

In 201 he got a lead role in Band Baaja Baaraat under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It proved to be a turning point in his career. He won everyone’s heart with his brilliant performance. He received the Filmfare award for Best Male Debut. Then he acted in films like Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl (2011), Lootera (2013), Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), and Gunday (2014). His film Bajirao Mastani took Ranveer to a new level in his acting career. He played the historic character of Peshwa Bajirao I. In the movie Padmaavat, he played the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji and surprised everyone with his powerful, intense, and menacing performance. Moreover, the film Gully Boy proved his versatile acting talent. By 2025 Ranveer Singh became one of the highest-paid actors of Bollywood.

Ranveer Singh has won many awards. He is the recipient of five Filmfare awards: Best Male Debut for Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), Best Actor for Bajirao Mastani (2016), Gully Boy (2019), and 83 (2021), and Best Actor (Critics) for Padmaavat (2018). Furthermore he is the brand ambassador for many big brands like Pepsi, Adidas Originals, Kotak Mahindra BankLloydMakeMyTripZomatoNothing PhonesMeeshoStar SportsMcDonald’s India, and luxury goods like Tiffany & Co. and Ducati, showcasing his wide appeal across sectors from tech and auto to food and fashion. His business ventures include his own production house, investments in fitness and sports brands, plans to launch a fashion line, and collaborations with a digital media company. Overall, Ranveer’s annual income is more than Rs 100 crore.

Ranveer Singh began dating Deepika Padukone, who was his co-star in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, in August 2012. In October 2018, the couple announced their impending marriage.The following month, they married in traditional Konkani Hindu and Sikh Anand Karajceremonies at Lake Como, Italy. On 8 September 2024, Padukone gave birth to their first child, daughter Dua Padukone Singh.

Ranveer’s film Dhurandhar has become a blockbuster. In it, he plays the role of Hamza Ali Mazari who is a spy enters Pakistan with a mission to break networks of terrorism planning attacks against India.
