Heavy rains continue to lash the city of Mumbai. Heavy downpour has led to several waterlogging in several parts of the city. The city is facing massive traffic jams. Waterlogging is reported in several neighbourhoods, including Kurla, Chembur, and Andheri.

Authorities have shut down the Andheri subway because flooding has affected commuter movement. Heavy rainfall will occur in Mumbai for the next 4 to 5 hours. IMD’s has issued a red alert as flight operations in Mumbai has also been affected. Mumbai is the financial capital of the country but we see massive water logging across the city.

There was 200 mm of rainfall. In the Worli sea face high tide cannot be seen, as the rainwater is draining towards the sea. There is fog, which creates a visibility issue. There have been heavy spells of rainfall, but it is not continuous. Roads have turned into rivers, and vehicles are stuck.

It has been the third consecutive day that Mumbai has woken up to heavy rainfall. Local trains are running late by 10 minutes. Airlines have issued a warning to keep extra time in hand because of waterlogging situation.

Waterlogging is causing a lot of jams on the way to the airport. Schools and colleges are shut in Mumbai. Lack of cleanliness of the manholes has resulted in water not going underground quickly.

Low-lying areas are choked with rain. This leads to an increase in the occurrence of mishaps. People are told to stay in their houses if they don’t have any important work.

Mumbai rains have certainly been unforgiving.
