Veteran Actor Mohanlal Has Been Named the Recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the Year 2023.
Mohanlal has been chosen as the recipient of the 2023 Dadasaheb Phalke Award.He will be honoured with the award at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on September 23.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on X shared, “On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is pleased to announce that Shri. Mohanlal will be conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. Mohanlal’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! The legendary actor, director, and producer is being honoured for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. His unmatched talent, versatility, and relentless hard work have set a golden standard in Indian film history. The award will be presented at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on Sept 23, 2025.”
Last year, Mithun Chakraborty was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement award for the year 2022. Mohanlal is a Malayalam actor and filmmaker who has also worked in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada films. With a career spanning over four decades, he has featured in more than 400 films. He was honoured by prestigious awards like Padma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2019).
Mohanlal is also the founder of ViswaSanthi Foundation, the foundation through which he carries out his philanthropic work. He has won five National Film Awards. He expressed his gratitude and wrote on X, “Truly humbled to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This honour is not mine alone, it belongs to every person who has walked alongside me on this journey. To my family, audience, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers, your love, faith, and encouragement have been my greatest strength and have shaped who I am today. I carry this recognition with deep gratitude and a full heart.”
