Television’s Beloved Karna, Pankaj Dheer, Bids Farewell After a Brave Battle with Cancer

Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, who portrayed Karna in the epic ‘Mahabharata,’ passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 68 on 15 October 2025. He was battling cancer for a long time.

Pankaj Dheer’s son Nikitin Dheer and daughter-in-law Kratika Sengar are also actors. The news of Pankaj Dheer’s sudden demise has given a big shock to the fans.

Pankaj Dheer had cancer, and he had won the battle against it. But cancer returned a few months ago. He also had surgery, but cancer took hold of him and ultimately took his life. Pankaj had shared his last post with his wife in which he was having dinner in a royal hotel. He last posted the photo of this candlelight dinner on Instagram. This post of his is dated 16 June 2024. He has not posted anything since then.

Netizens have started paying tribute to his post. One user wrote, ‘Om Shanti’, another user wrote, ‘May God give peace to your divine soul.’

Pankaj Dheer’s powerful performance as Karn in ‘Mahabharata’ made him a household name. His authoritative presence on screen made him one of the most appreciated characters in Indian television history. His intense performance charmed the audience deeply.

Pankaj appeared in Dastak, TV series, Zee Horror Show (1983). He also played the role of a lawyer in the TV series Kanoon. He also worked in several movies like, Jeevan Ek Sanghursh (1990), Sadak (1991), Sanam Bewafa (1991), Aashik Awara (1993), Beta (1996), Baadshah (1999), Andaaz (2003), Gippi (2013), and Mahabharat Aur Barbareek (2013).

Pankaj Dheer will always remain in the hearts of people because of his acting. He was the man who made the role of Karn so perfect that it made childhood memories special for people.
