
Shamla Hamza, Mammootty, and Manjummel Boys Emerge Big Winners at Kerala State Film Awards 2025
The winners of the 55th Kerala State Film Awards for the films of 2024 were announced on November 3, 2025, at a press conference held in Thrissur. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on November 15, 2025, at the Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram. A total of 128 films were submitted for the award this year, out of which only 10% could meet the necessary quality standards, according to Mr. Prakash Raj.
Shamla Hamza won the Best Actor (Female) for her performance in Feminichi Fathima. Mammootty won his seventh Best Actor (Male) award for his performance as Kodumon Potty in Bramayugam. Fasil Muhammed won the award for the Best Debutant Director for Feminichi Fathima.
Actor Asif Ali got the Special Jury Award which is Kerala State Film Award, a Special Jury Mention for his role in ‘Level Cross’ and ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’. He was over the moon after receiving the award and full of gratitude.
Filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage won the award for the Best Story for Paradise. Sushin Shyam was bestowed upon his second State award for Best Music for the songs from Bougainvillea.
Manjummel Boys is a Malayalam language thriller film written and directed by Chidambaram in 2024. The film bagged nine awards, which include top honours of Best Film and Best Director, on Monday (November 3, 2025).
The Best Character Artist awards was presented to Lijomol Jose (Nadanna Sambhavam) in the female category, and Soubin Shahir (Manjummel Boys) and Sidharth Bharathan (Bramayugam) in the male category. The Special Jury Award was secured by Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Darshana Rajendran, Jyothirmayi, and the film Paradise.
Mohanlal congratulated the winners of the Kerala State Film awards on Twitter (X). He wrote on Twitter, “Heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the Kerala State Film Awards! Special love to my Ichakka for winning Best Actor, congratulations to Shamla Hamza for being honoured as Best Actress, and to Chidambaram for the Best Director award. A huge round of applause to Manjummal Boys for winning Best Movie. Appreciation also to Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Jyothirmayi, and Darshana Rajendran for their exceptional performances this year.”
