From Underrated to Unstoppable: Akshaye Khanna Finally Gets His Due
Akshaye Khanna is trending on Instagram and Twitter. Finally, he is getting love, recognition, and respect from both the audience and critics. He has made a successful comeback with his film Dhurandhar.
Akshaye Khanna’s viral dance in Dhurandhar is ruling the social media. It is Fa9la by Flipperachi, a Bahraini rap track currently appreciated by Gen Z. The track has gone so viral that even BJP shared a reel on Tuesday highlighting PM Modi’s journey from childhood, set to this very song! The lines translate to: “Brother, dance hard, I’m ready for a good time.”
People are blaming Bollywood for not making Akshaye a commercially successful actor. Despite being the son of legendary actor Vinod Khanna, despite taking advantage of nepotism, he had given only one solo hit in his 28 years of acting career that is Taal in 1999. In 2009, he romanced everyone from Aishwarya Rai to Kareena Kapoor on screen. He earned fame in cult films like Dil Chahta Hai and Border. People cannot Jeetu in Hungama. It was one of the best performances by an Indian actor in a comic role in Hulchul. He took a break of 5 years from the industry. He recently garnered significant critical acclaim for his role as Aurangzeb in the 2025 film Chhaava.
Director Priyadarshan, who has worked with Akshaye in multiple films, admits he wasn’t aware of the resurgence of Jeetu from Videocon. He says, “It’s not just about Gen Z; people have always loved him. These days, audiences make an actor from their own opinion. The fact that people are talking about him now shows he was always a genuinely favourite artiste.”
