Heer Express: A Ride With More Stops Than Surprises

The movie ‘Heer Express’ is directed by Umesh Shukla. It stars Divita Juneja, Gulsan Grover, Sanjay Mishra, and Ashutosh Rana. The film was released on 8 August, 2025.

The story is about Heer, a Punjabi girl who likes cooking and runs a dhabha started by her late mother. She is offered an opportunity to start a restaurant in London by two guests and name it ‘Preeto Da Dhaba’. Her uncles, Gulsan Grover and Sanjay Mishra, motivate her to grab the opportunity.

When she goes to London, she is ignorant of the fact that she shares a history with the restaurant owner, Ashutosh Rana. The screenplay is simple as they move from London to Punjab. It portrays typical family conflicts. The climax attempts to be unique but crumbles under the weight of its execution. The film is shot in London, and cinematographer Sameer Arya presents locations with elegance.

The elderly and the young children may like the film as they could relate to it. The film gives a message on the importance of staying united as a family, which is stated plainly. The first half of the film drags, while the second half fails to hold the audience’s attention. The film could have presented its seasoned actors in a better way. It seems that the talent of actors like Gulsan Kumar isn’t fully tapped, while Sanjay Mishra’s presence in the film feels incidental. The film is driven by predictable tropes and constant grins. Till the end, the film doesn’t serve the spice it promises.

Actress Divita Juneja, is unable to showcase feelings beyond cheerfulness. She is not able to do justice to the emotional scenes. The actor who stands out and is worth watching is Ashutosh Rana, who puts his best foot forward to lift the script.

In the end, Heer Express resembles not a voyage but an exhausting diversion. It fails to satisfy or surprise its viewers.
