Kamini Kaushal No More: Cinema Loses a Gentle, Graceful Star of Indian Classics

Veteran actress Kamini Kaushal passed away on November 14, 2025.  She played the role of Shahid Kapoor’s grandmother in ‘Kabir Singh’ (2019) and was last seen in Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ (2022).

The news of her death came as a shock to the entertainment industry. In the last month, many personalities from the entertainment world took their last breath. Dharmendra also recovered from health issues. Govinda was also admitted to the hospital for fatigue-related concerns. Kamini Kaushal’s death has added more sorrow to the atmosphere of the film world.

Kamini Kaushal was one of the finest actresses in the golden era of Indian cinema. She acted in the film “Neecha Nagar” (1946) that won the Palme D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. She was one of the most beloved legends of the film industry. Kamini Kaushal was the daughter of famous Indian Botanist Prof Shiv Ram Kashyap, Punjab University, Lahore. She graduated from Government College, Lahore. Kamini Kaushal’s lovely face and sweet voice on her Doordarshan puppet shows—Hari Bhari Phulwari and Chand Sitare—will always be a core childhood memory. She featured on the first cover of Filmfare magazine in 1952.

Kamini Kaushal’s family has requested to respect their privacy in this tough time.  Making puppets was a passion in her late life. She was a lady who was dignified as well as sympathetic. She was a remarkable actress and a beautiful human being.
