Farewell to an Icon: Veteran Actor MS Umesh Leaves Behind Six Decades of Legacy

Popular comedian and veteran Kannada actor MS Umesh passed away at 80. Mysore Srikantayya Umesh, popularly known as Umesh, had a career of six decades in the Kannada cinema. He was known for his unique acting skills and comedy timing. He was diagnosed with stage four of liver cancer.

He was hospitalised on October 10 after a fall at home. Anyone who has seen a Kannada film cannot forget Umesh, who is such a wonderful actor, who has such an amazing body language and dialogue delivery. He passed away due to illness. He was admitted to Kidwai Hospital.

It is a possibility that Umesh’s body will be shifted to JP Nagar Niwas. He had acted in more than 250 films. He was a devotee of Prahlada. He was a disciple of Guru Prahlada. He was famous for a dialogue which said, ‘Please don’t misunderstand me.’ He was down-to-earth and a humble person.

The actor acted in the 2009 Kannada film Raam. Umesh’s first appearance as an actor on the silver screen was with Makkala Rajya in 1960 directed by veteran actor-director B. R. Panthulu for his Padmini films banner. This was also the second film produced by M. V. Rajamma. Some of his best remembered films include Nagara Hole (1978), Guru Shishyaru (1981), Anupama (1981), Kaamana Billu (1983), Apoorva Sangama (1984), Shruthi Seridaaga (1987), Shravana Banthu (1984), Malaya Marutha (1986), Golmaal Radhakrishna (1990), Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare (1993), Venkata in Sankata (2007) to name a few.
